    21 June 2018

“Yoga is the journey of the self, through the self, to the self.”

Join us for a one-day yoga retreat in the lush green hills of Sai Kung on International Yoga Day to celebrate the rich tradition of yoga, a living and breathing practice that is passed on from human to human and has been refined over thousands of years. Bring along your little ones who will enjoy a full day of indoor and outdoor play and swimming in the premier Hong Kong Golf and Tennis Academy. *

The day will comprise of morning asana classes in which we move, stretch and breathe consciously to improve health, strength and flexibility. Following a light Ayurveda-inspired brunch, we will look at an aspect of yoga philosophy, focussed on our authentic Self. We close with a meditative yoga session focussed on pranayama (breath work) and relaxing meditation, a practice that allows the body to self-heal and which brings mental ease and clarity. (Suitable for all levels).

The practice of yoga focuses on cultivating union of body, mind and spirit. Yoga is a complete science for living, defined in ancient scripture as Moksa Sastra – the science of liberation or freedom from fear and limiting beliefs. Through an integrated practice that encompasses mind, body and breath we sense and grow our true potential.

We invite you to Fivelements International Yoga Day Celebration in the spirit of compassion, self-care, love and light.

    Ankie Bielke

Ankie has more than 17 years of experience with yoga. Her yoga journey started in New York at Om Yoga and from that day on the practice of yoga became a part of her life. In 2010 she completed her 200-hour teacher training in Hong Kong. Ankie has an international background and enjoys connecting to people through yoga. Teaching yoga and learning from others is what brings her joy in life.

This session begins with chanting and then warming the body through a series of yoga postures in a short vinyasa-style flow. Once the body is warm, restorative yin yoga postures incorporating deep stretches that are held for a long time allow for realignment of the fascia (connective tissue). Stillness combined with physical challenge help train the restless mind and bring about physical rejuvenation and restoration. We close with a guided relaxation, allowing any remaining tension to release. This restorative style of yoga helps you to feel relaxed and refreshed. This session is suitable for all levels.

    Mindy Tagliente

Watching her father practise headstands as a toddler sparked Mindy’s initial attraction to yoga. Having trained in Hatha, Ashtanga and Vinyasa with an Iyengar emphasis on alignment, she has taught yoga, meditation and wellbeing worldwide since 2002 and in many different contexts - from retreats in Asia to charity classes in Africa. Mindy believes, “yoga is not just a practice — it is a way of life.” One of the many gifts that yoga has brought to Mindy’s life is the understanding that when the mental, emotional bodies combine with the breath and the physical body, we can achieve greatness.

    Yoga for Life with Mindy

Combining the movement of the body with the rhythmic flow of the breath, this session is suitable for practitioners of all levels. VinyasaFlow is a dynamic yoga asana practice that brings circulation of life blood and vital force, unleashing creativity. The session also includes pranayama (breathing techniques) and deep relaxation to rejuvenate the nervous system. Both joyful and playful, Mindy’s class tickles you beyond your limitations. This uplifting session will leave you feeling refreshed and energised.

    Caron Williamson

Caron began her yoga practice when she moved from London to India. A former business consultant, she lived in India for five years, practising and studying yoga. She learned under Prasad Rangnekar of the YogaPrasad Institute and she is an initiate of the Himalayan Yoga Tradition of Swami Rama. Her passion is the application of ancient yoga philosophy to modern life. Caron has found yoga to be the key to unlocking her life. She teaches out of a genuine desire to share with others the miraculous ways in which yoga can transform lives, relationships and beliefs.

Yogi Brunch & Talk: Yoga Philosophy - a Journey to the Self with Caron in Sakti Dining Room™
We will engage in a curious exploration of the concept of Self together. This talk will look at how we identify ourselves and how we perceive ourselves and our reality. Through deepening our understanding of who we truly are, we can live life more fully and joyfully. We will look at the idea of self through the lens of traditional yoga philosophy, which will help us make sense of who we truly are and how to unlock our potential. Join us on the journey of a lifetime!

Meditative Yoga for the Soul with Caron

This session begins with Sanskrit chanting and moves into a series of subtle body exercises, specifically designed to bring you to a deeper sense of awareness of your true self. You are encouraged to feel where your personal challenge lies and to approach yourself and your body with gentleness and love. Using breath throughout the session to guide the inner awareness, this session is a combination of pranayama (breath and subtle energy work), asana (physical movements and postures), pratyahara (sense control) and relaxation. Each session is deeply nurturing and supportive, allowing you to feel a sense of deep peace and relaxation.
